Here are just two of our favourite ways to spend a day; walking the boardwalk across the dunes, salt pans and lagoons of the Ria Formosa wetlands, a migrating point for birds (more than 200 species) and an important spawning ground for North Atlantic fish; exploring the bohemian coastal town of Olhao where ferry or water taxi can take you to Armona island and beaches that can pass for the Caribbean.  More energetic activities include bike or boat hire, surfing, kayaking, padel, golf, horse-riding and tennis..
